WATERPROOFING OF TANKS AND POOLS

Waterproofing of tanks and swimming pools

Tanks and swimming pools and their repair and waterproofing are one of our core activities. In the case of tanks and swimming pools, it is particularly important to prevent water from entering the tank from the outside and, conversely, to prevent water from flowing out of the tank. If the ingress of water from the outside is not prevented, the waterproofing layer inside the tank may be damaged. Full watertightness in both directions is especially important to prevent water contamination in drinking water tanks and also in tiled swimming pools, as the later repair of such swimming pools turns out to be very expensive.

To ensure the water tightness of drinking water tanks, the following waterproofing works must be carried out:

  • Waterproofing of concrete drinking water tanks from the outside.

  • Waterproofing of concrete drinking water tanks from the inside.

Waterproofing of drinking water tanks from the outside is done during the construction of the tank using flexible mineral or bitumen membranes for this purpose. If there is no external waterproofing or it does not work, during the repair of the tank, a separate waterproofing layer must be built on the inside, which can withstand the water pressure from the negative side. Only after that can the entire tank be covered from the inside with a waterproofing system that must be certified for waterproofing drinking water tanks. Both mineral elastic liquid waterproofing membranes and flexible polyurethane coatings are used for waterproofing drinking water tanks.

When waterproofing the inside of drinking water tanks, it is important that the material used is smooth and dirt-repellent, which is necessary to be able to easily wash and maintain the tank. A smooth and slippery surface also reduces the risk of bacteria accumulation and improves the quality of drinking water.

To ensure watertightness of pools and tanks, the following waterproofing works must be carried out:

  • Waterproofing of concrete swimming pools and tanks from the outside.
  • Waterproofing of concrete swimming pools from the inside.

Waterproofing of concrete swimming pools from the outside is necessary to prevent the internal waterproofing of the pool and tiles or other coverings from coming off the surface. Materials intended for waterproofing pools from the inside must be certified according to the purpose of the pool or tank. Mineral elastic liquid waterproofing membranes or flexible polyurethane coatings are used for waterproofing swimming pools.

In addition to waterproofing tanks and pools, we also repair and renovate them. In the case of old tanks and pools, it is quite common to remove the old decayed layers and concrete repair before waterproofing works.

Traveter Grupp performs repair and waterproofing works of various tanks:

  • renovation and waterproofing of drinking and waste water tanks
  • renovation and waterproofing of firefighting water tanks
  • renovation and waterproofing of swimming pools and overflow pools
  • renovation and waterproofing of biogas tanks
  • renovation and waterproofing of silos

The materials are supplied by Primostar OÜ and the construction chemical group BASF.
